The European Health Insurance Card (or EHIC) allows the support of a person during a trip or a short stay in Europe. The EHIC is nominative and individual. It must be presented for each family member, including minors under 16 years of age.

The EHIC allows the assumption of expenses of health in Europe, during a temporary stay:

  • Weekend

  • Vacation

  • Cultural or linguistic stay

  • Education or internship

  • School trip

  • Job search or business trip

The EHIC allows the insured to consult a health professional and to have access to hospital services at the same rates as insured persons from the European country in which he is located.

The European Health Insurance Card can be used in the States of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. It is not valid outside Europe.
